Laying untouched for seven decades the abandoned home was discovered three years ago after its owner died aged 91.

May 20th 1927: Lindbergh begins first solo flight across Atlantic

On this day in 1927 at 7.52am, Charles Lindbergh set off from Long Island in New York on the world’s first solo non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean. He landed in Paris at 10.22pm the next day. He covered nearly 3,600 miles in a purpose built single seat plane the Spirit of St. Louis. Lindbergh wanted the Orteig Prize, a $25,000 reward offered by Raymond Orteig for the first non-stop solo flight between New York and Paris; many died in the pursuit of the prize, but Lindbergh won it. Lindbergh was a US Air Mail pilot before his fame from this historic flight, for which he was awarded a Medal of Honor.

Even international popstars pound the pavements. Case in point, Ellie Goulding. One morning – aged 18 – Ellie Goulding just woke up and decided to start running, and she hasn’t stopped since.

I’m way more confident when I’ve worked out…
I don’t really care if my weight fluctuates as long as I’m fit. You don’t need to be skinny to have confidence but you can put on the most beautiful dress and if you’re not feeling comfortable it won’t look beautiful. Right now my favourite designers are Alex Wang, Acne and Helmut Lang.

I try to fit running in to my crazy schedule…
It’s tough and there are some instances where I physically don’t have a second but I love running around different cities. I travel a lot but the only time I get to see stuff is when I go running and it’s a massive endorphin release!

I usually interval train…
I run pretty fast, then slow down to a walk, then start jogging… and repeat. It’s also my technique for getting through a long run. I don’t put pressure on myself to go really fast, as long as I’m moving and running the majority I’m happy.

When I run I just focus on my technique…
And where and how far I’m going. Nothing else goes through my head. It’s great because most of the time I’m thinking about a million things at once.

My favourite summer song is…
Jolene by Dolly Parton. In fact I would actually argue it’s one of my favourite songs of all time.

Love how she just goes to feel happy rather than putting pressure on herself to run fast. Starting to adopt this and it feels great

Finally went to the running store and got fitted for shoes. My calf pain? Apparently a common symptom of running in minimalist shoes. The girl’s eyes bugged out when I pulled out my old shoes and she compared them to the new ones hahaha. I’m a little impatient….so yeah getting a mid-range pair and going to alternate between the ones I have now and those new ones so I can move down toward only minimalist shoes. I am so glad I know what the root of the problem is now :)

also: THE CONCERT WAS AWESOME, my sister is great at picking tickets, got us floor seating (standing) and we were so close to the stage. I love VW so much

Not like I’ve been dying to see them since high school or anything. I realize I’m being a hipster here, but I’ve loved them since their first album came out and Modern Vampires of the City is AMAZING. Love the album art too.
